SAN MATEO, CA - July 2, 2001 - Judges in the Northern California
Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, sponsored nationally by Ernst &
Young, have named Asurion and its co-founders, Kevin Taweel and Jim
Ellis, as recipients of the 2001 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

For 14 years, Ernst & Young has sponsored this competition to
recognize the most enterprising and innovative emerging businesses and
their leaders throughout the United States.  The top Entrepreneur of
the Year in the United States is named in the Fall each year from the
single honoree chosen in each of 46 regions around the country.

Taweel and Ellis co-founded Asurion, formerly Mill River Corporation,
in 1994.  In 1995, they acquired Road Rescue Incorporated, and
pioneered the first emergency roadside assistance program linked to
wireless phones. They expanded this wireless services concept in 1999
with the acquisition of The Merrimac Group, Inc., the company that had
invented the concept of insurance protection for wireless subscribers
against loss, damage or failure of their wireless equipment.

Under the leadership of Taweel and Ellis, along with dedicated effort
from the entire Asurion team, the company has grown more than 500% in
the last five years to become the largest provider of such services to
the wireless industry in North America.  An entire portfolio of
additional revenue-enhancing and subscriber retention services for the
wireless industry have joined Asurion's roadside assistance and
